Roald Dahl Day 2017

School was taken over by Mr Willy Wonka today and his Oompa Lumpa’s were working for him!

This was to celebrate Roald Dahl day. A massive well done to all of the children who dressed up as characters from his stories or wore his favourite colour yellow.

The day was started with a special assembly by Mrs Brookes who told us all about Roald Dahl

Have you seen any of the World Athletics competition in London? It’s been awesome, with two great athletes (and heroes of mine)  competing at their main events for the last time – Jamaica’s Usain Bolt  and team GB’s Mo Farah. Both could be up for the greatest ever sportsperson in our two-week topic in Setember. I’ll leave you with a great quote from Bolt, who said that he actually fell in the first race he ever ran. Have a think about why I have shared that story with you! There will be more inspirational quotes to come in the classroom, so look out for them!

A fantastic result for Burton Road who won the ‘Most Enterprising Team’ at the LTL enterprise challenge yesterday. The children designed a musical feature for the playground and presented their pitch to a panel of judges in a Dragon’s Den style. All the children represented the school excellently and showed super enterprising skills.
