Enterprise Challenge Winners!

Year 5 Girls - Enterprise Challenge Winners!

Congratulations to an intrepid group of Year 5 pupils who won this year’s Primary Enterprise Challenge.

The Enterprise Challenge is an annual competition where schools compete against each other, as budding & future entrepreneurs, to do a Dragons’ Den-style pitch to room full of business people. This year’s challenge was to design a ‘Sensory Room’ for a school and then promote their thinking and ideas around it. Finals’ Day took place at Cast Theatre, in Doncaster, against lots of other schools from South Yorkshire and the judging panel decided that Burton Road were the winners.

Our Year 5 girls, Cosy Corner, were the winning team. Their successful design was based around the four seasons and the team members were: Amelia B, Harriet S, Isla R and Maddie W. Astoundingly, it was our Year 5 boys’ team who they pipped to the first prize. Frosted Snowflakes (Corey A, Harrison E, Thomas M and Morrison S) took first prize in their own judge’s room and finished overall runners-up. All these children were amazing and displayed confidence, courage and self-belief!

'Ambispace', who sponsored the competition, will now install the Sensory Room at Burton Road, as this is the winning prize. Once completed, it will mean that the school can now offer up a space that is especially dedicated to neurodivergent pupils, where sensory input can be controlled, creating an environment where they can feel calm and can flourish.

Wow… what an amazing achievement and legacy. We will keep you updated on how our new sensory room develops!
