Black History Month
Black History Month at Burton Road Primary School
Every October, as part of our history curriculum, we celebrate Black History Month by learning about significant people of colour who have made a lasting impact. Each class focuses on an inspiring individual, exploring their achievements. It is also highlighted how Black History Month connects to the British values such as democracy, rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance.
In addition, each unit highlights the protected characteristics relevant to the person studied, ensuring a broader understanding of diversity beyond race. This important learning helps us uphold our school’s Golden Value of Respect, fostering an inclusive and respectful community for all.
