Dear Parents and Carers,

Hello!

As most of you know, because your teacher is now back in school teaching, I (Miss Charlesworth) have been given the job of setting your home learning activities. Hopefully, I won’t make many changes to it and I will make sure to keep it fun and easy for you to follow. Also, your teacher will continue to check the work you send them and you can still contact them if you need to.

I just wanted to keep you updated with some changes that have been agreed with Mr Harris and the other teachers who are currently setting home learning.

From Monday (8.6.20), your literacy and maths work will be uploaded onto your class page daily. I will upload the tasks for each day the evening before (For example, Mondays work will be uploaded on Sunday evening etc.) so that you can prepare it in advance if necessary.

Also, I will also be adding some additional work for maths to either support or extend the learning in case you have been finding the work too challenging or not challenging enough.

Finally, for topic I will be uploading a lesson each week for you to complete which will be the same as they are doing in school. Alongside this, I will upload an additional selection of activities weekly, linked to that week’s topic lessons.

As you know, you are not expected to complete all of the work I upload, you can choose how much you feel you are able to do. Please keep uploading your work to your class teacher in the way you usually do and don't hesitate to get in touch with them with any questions you have.

Keep working hard and enjoy yourself!

Miss Charlesworth

History Topic

This term our new topic is 'Invasions and Battles'.
To start off, this week you have a quick question sheet to check what you may already know. When we do these in school we don't do any learning beforehand. We read the questions to the children and then allow them to write down their answer without any prompts. It's a nice to look back on this at the end of the topic to see how much the children learned throughout the term.

Another little task that you can start doing for this topic is collecting materials such as cardboard boxes(different sizes), toilet roll tubes, paper, pens and any other items you think might be useful for creating a 3D building (I'm not letting slip what type of building just yet). We will be doing this in a few weeks time so you have plenty of time to collect things.

Week 8 Home Learning W.C 18.05.20.  It's been another fun filled week of learning: alien writing, verb spotting, recipe writing, pizza making, multiplication masters and not forgetting tadpole spotting!
Week 7 Home Learning. W.C 11.05.20  We have learned a lot about Wombats this week in our literacy learning!  In maths we have been busy adding and subtracting 2 digit numbers.  We continue with our green fingers learning around growing and planting!.

Spanish Home Learning Resources to try!

Design and Technology.

We have been busy designing and sewing a felt poppy ready to wear on Remembrance Day.

We have loved learning about the famous Mexican artist  Frida Kahlo and using her as inspiration for our own art work. 'Viva la Vida!'

Roald Dahl is one of our most favourite authors so we couldn't wait for the chance to really bring his characters alive and dress as our favourite characters.

Writing a new version of the story 'The Papaya that spoke' has been great fun.  We enjoyed eating papaya too!
