Class 8

Today, to end our topic on Romans, we participated in a range of creative activities. In Class 8, we made Roman Mosaics using dried foods. Check out our work below.
Today in class 8 we have used glockenspiels, a guitar and recorders to investigate pitch.
We had a fantastic day on Monday learning lots of facts about the Roman Army and how the Romans lived. We even went to war! Check out the pictures below.

This afternoon Class 8 had great fun exploding their volcanoes!!! We had to find substances that created a chemical reaction. We experimented first to practise. We discovered that if we mixed an alkaline substance with an acid it created a reaction. Therefore to explode our volcanoes we mixed vinegar (acid) and baking soda (alkaline).

Take a look at the pictures below to see how we got on!

Over the last couple of weeks we have had some wonderful volcanoes arriving in Class 8 which have been created at home. Thank you for all your hard work, they are fantastic and have brightened up our classroom. Well done everyone!

A massive thank you to Ava Chadwick who brought us some ‘personalised’ Halloween Treats! She designed and printed all the wrappers herself! How wonderful! Thank you!

Enjoy Halloween everyone 🎃🎃🎃

This week we have been learning further facts about volcanoes and have had a debate about whether it would be good to live near a volcano! There are pros and cons but we were surprised at how many advantages there are to living near a volcano!

During the first two weeks of term, Key Stage 2 learnt all about different Yorkshire people in a bid to find out who was Yorkshire’s greatest! Class 8 studied Charlotte Bronte. We learnt how she came from a poor background and didn’t receive a private or even full education. Despite all this she went on to publish one of the most read and successful books of all time - Jane Eyre!

Class 8 presented the facts to Mr Harris and the governors and they decided that Charlotte Bronte was the Greatest Yorkshire person of all time!!! The children were clear, precise and persuasive in their delivery and really deserved the accolade of winners! Well done class 8!

As part of our Active Planet Topic we visited Magna yesterday. The children made their very own volcanoes and classified different types of rocks as well as venturing through the different pavilions around Magna - earth, fire, air and water. Enjoy looking at the photos!

Magna Trip

A warm welcome to Class 8, Year 3/4 from Mrs Brearley and Mrs Key. In Class 8 we make learning fun and exciting, while expecting high standards at the same time.

This term we have lots in store. We will be kicking off by learning about the Greatest Yorkshire lady - Charlotte Bronte!

Our overall topic this term is Active Planet and we will be visiting Magna as an entry point to our studies.

Class 8 PE days are Tuesday and Wednesday so please ensure that your children have their PE kits on these days.

Children will receive new spellings every Tuesday and will have weekly homework to complete.

We look forward to our first term together!
