Welcome to Class 3

Keep updated here to see all of the amazing things we have been doing in school and at home recently. Our learning has not stopped and there are been some brilliant contributions to our topics. We are also focusing on our feelings as we settle back into our routines.

World Book Day 2021

We took on the school theme of 'The Masked Reader' and created masks from our favourite characters and our own characters to read our favourite books. 

Life on Mars

Children completed our challenge on Wellbeing Wednesday to create their own planet. Great outcome everyone. 

DT in a box

We sent home a DT challenge of designing, making and evaluating our own clocks. 

Fun in the snow!

We carried out experiments with the snow and built the snowmen we had described in our Talk for Writing sessions. 

Children's Mental Health Week 

We took part in 'Dress to Express' as part of Children's Mental Health Week, wearing clothes that express what we like to do, our favourite colours or how we were feeling.  

Remembrance activities

Children in class 3 have made their own poppies by sewing wool onto felt and using tissue paper.

DT Coal carts 

Great at work making our coal carts with the help of Hepp DT. They look amazing.

Our amazing start to Class 3

What a great start to Year 1 Class 3. We are all so impressed with your work this week. We have written about our Summer holidays and found out more about each other from our 'All about me' work. 

We have decided the things that we are good at and the things that we would like to get better at and set ourselves a goal for the end of the year. 

Ashley Jackson

We have completed some amazing art work over the last few weeks. We have learnt about watercolours, shading by adding more water to the paint and different brush strokes. We learnt about primary and secondary colours and had ago at mixing colours. We looked at the work of Ashley Jackson and found out some facts about him.

Big Brave Bill

We has a special visitor overnight who left some of his belongings behind. We had to work out who they belonged to.

Design technology

Class 3 have been able to take part in DT sessions from Hepp DT making a coal cart to link in with our Brilliant Barnsley topic. 

Handa’s Surprise

We have been reading the story by Eileen Browne. We made our own actions and thought about how to add in information. We even tasted the seven delicious fruits Handa put in her basket for her friend Akeyo.
