Class 2
Welcome to Class 2's page!
Mrs Farrell and Mrs Littlewood cannot wait to meet you all.
We're going to have a fantastic year and we cannot wait to start our new learning journey together!
We have been learning all about the lifecycle of a hen. We have watched our eggs pipping in the incubator and then hatch. We then put them in the brooder cage. We have watched them grow feathers and we have taken care of them. We have learnt about where they live on the farm and the different parts of a hen.
We’re having a lovely day in Reception for World Book Day! We enjoyed story time in the whole school assembly, performed our class poems, we’ve created bookmarks, drawn our favourite characters and shared our favourite stories. 😁📚

We’ve been consolidating our knowledge of patterns. We are creating repeating patterns using stamps.
We have joined drawing club this week and have been drawing our character and setting from our story- The Way Back Home. We have also tried really hard with our secret sentence passwords using our Fred fingers and writing one of the tricky words we have learnt- I.
Whole class storytelling using our class actions and story map😁what the Ladybird Heard🐞
Great independent story telling of what the ladybird heard😄
We had a very exciting delivery last week. Albie from the story sent us a dinosaur egg to look after. We created posters so other people know it is there. Before it hatched, we discussed which type of dinosaur it might be. We have taken care of it and watched it grow. 🦖
We have been playing a maths game using our knowledge of the numbers 1, 2 and 3. We have been exploring the composition of 1, 2 and 3 using a part whole model, numicon and counters. We have been sharing the horses into the 2 fields.
We’ve been working working hard as a team to create a house with rocking chairs and a gaming room. Very creative, inventive and good teamwork 😁
Now we’re creating some Autumn artwork using paint to create leaf printings on our branches.🍁🍂🌿🍃
We have been exploring our senses. We have been thinking about what we can smell, touch, feel , hear and what things taste like. 👂🏼👅👀🖐🏻👃🏼
We’ve worked so hard in Class 2 to imitate our talk for writing story Funnybones. We’ve enjoyed retelling the story with actions and creating our own story maps.💀
In Class 2 we love to learn, play and explore both the indoors and outdoors! Over the year we have lots of exciting topics planned including Our Amazing World, Once Upon a Time and Growing and Changing! Throughout the year we also be taking part in Read, Write, Inc Phonics to help us to learn to read and we will develop a love for Maths and will work towards developing a deep understanding of number to 10, using numicon and number blocks to help us along the way!

Meet Fred Frog!
This week Reception have met a special part of our class and our Read, Write, Inc Phonics sessions Fred Frog! Fred can only say the sounds in a word and needs our help to help him say/read the word. Fred will say the sounds and the children have been trying to work out the word. For example, Fred says the sounds c–a–t, and we have been orally blending the word to say cat. This is Fred Talk: sounding out the word. We will continue to take part in lots of Fred talk over the next few weeks. Please check out the class dojo wall for a link to practise Fred talk games.
Some great home achievements shared in our class this week😁
The Colour Monster
This week our core text is The Colour Monster. We have started to listen to the story and been thinking about his different feelings/emotions. Class 2 have also been introduced to Will the Word Bear and have been thinking about some key vocabulary in the story so far including thinking about what the following words mean:
Confused
Happiness
Sadness
Anger
Fear
Calm
We look forward to learning more about The Colour Monster later in the week and thinking about our own feelings/emotions in particular thinking about things that make us happy and sad.
