Class 6

Welcome to Class 6, Year 3!

In Class 6, we love to learn new things, help each other and try our best.

Our PE Days are Mondays and Wednesdays and children are expected to come to school in Burton Road PE kit on these days.

Autumn Term
This half term our Art topic will focus on drawing and painting self portraits in the style of Frida Kahlo. Our History topic will focus on Railways in the local area and our Science topic is all about Forces and Magnets.

History

After learning all about the Industrial Revolution and the industries in Barnsley, we enjoyed being able to see how the goods from these industries were transported via the Barnsley Canal. We followed the route of the old canal, saw some of the left over canal and even got to see the old lock and lock keeper's house ruins.

Art

We have been studying the life and art work of Frida Khalo and today we had a go at drawing a self portrait just like she drew.

We can't wait to have a go at creating a self portrait in the same style of Frida.

To prepare us for painting our self portraits, we used the primary colours, white and black to mix the colours to match different features on our faces. We did a fantastic job!

Science

In Science, we completed an investigation to find out what sort of surfaces create the most friction. We found grass had the most friction and cardboard had the least friction.

Class 6 Geography
Today we have been learning about physical and human features. Class 6 loved identifying the features on local maps, the classroom was buzzing with discussion.

After studying the work of collage artist Dolan Geiman the children made their own collage pictures.

Our Mothers Day cards were created using collage too.

An interview with The Fantastic Mr Fox

Mr Fox was put on trial, was it him or the farmers who were in the wrong? Class 6 had the questions ready for him.
