Class 12

WELCOME TO CLASS 12

"Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think."

- Albert Einstein

In Year Six, we...

listen and make positive contributions to class discussions

try our best and persevere even when we find things challenging

take care of one another and work as a team

take responsibility for our learning

ask questions when thinking critically about what we are learning

enjoy reading for pleasure

strive to achieve our personal targets and goals

Our classroom is a happy and inviting place where we want our children to feel free to make mistakes in order to help them learn. We strongly believe that a classroom with laughter and smiles is a classroom that learns best and we promote a positive attitude in everything that we do. We want the children to enjoy their final year at Burton Road Primary School and give them memories and experiences that they will treasure forever. We hope that you enjoy seeing all of the fabulous things we have done so far. Thank you for visiting our class page.

August 2020

Hi!

A huge welcome to our class page where you will be able to keep updated on all of our learning throughout Year 6. I am really excited to get back into school and meet my new class in a couple of weeks time and I just know that every single member of the brand new Class 12 is going to have a wonderful final year at Burton Road.

For some of you, it may have been a few months since you were last in school and so it may feel a little daunting to be getting back into the school routine. I want to put all of your minds at rest and let you know that we will be gradually getting back into school life across the first few weeks in September. All of your teachers know how difficult it might be for you and we are here to support and guide you through your transition back to school. If you have any worries or concerns you can speak to any teacher at any time and we will do our best to reassure and help you.

One of my favourite parts of the school day is when I can read to my class. I hope that this part of our school day will also be opportunity for you to relax and enjoy getting to know new characters and lands! I am very excited about lots of new books that have been published, reviewed and recommended throughout the Spring and Summer and can't wait to share them all with you. I have chosen to let you pick our first class read! This is how it will work: I have selected four books that are all fairly new, highly recommended and ones that you might not have heard of or read yourselves. All of these books have been wrapped up - so you don't judge the books by its cover - and I have attached the blurb to each book. Your job is to read all of the blurbs and decide which book you would like to be our first class novel. We will take a vote on our first day back at school and the most popular book will win! I have attached the blurbs below so you can get a head start on your decision making!

I am really excited to see you on Wednesday 2nd September!

Best Wishes

Miss Densley
