We have released our butterflies into the wild. We have watched them grow from caterpillars to spinning their cocoons and then finally butterflies🐛🦋

We're very excited in Reception because our caterpillars are really starting to grow now. They are moulting their skin very frequently and they are eating the special food. We wonder how long it will be until they turn into a cocoon?🐛🦋

In Reception we are learning all about things that are alive and growing. We had a special flower delivery last week. We carefully planted our flowers in our outside area and talked about the different parts of a plant and what it needs to grow. 💐🌻🌼🌸🌿🍀🌳

We have made sandwiches, bunting, flags, cupcakes and sung and danced our hearts out. Best party ever! 🇬🇧👑 🎉 👸🏼

We have had the most lovely day celebrating the Queen's Jubilee.🇬🇧👑 🎉 👸🏼

We've been looking after the chicks well, they are in the brooder cage now as most of them have hatched and need more space to grow🐥.

We have had a very exciting delivery this afternoon! The little red hen has given us a very important job to do, she has sent us some eggs to look after and keep safe🐣🐥

For science week last week we were having a go at creating an alternative route for the Billy Goats to get across the river. We designed our raft and decided which materials would be the most suitable to build our raft from. We then tested it on the water and talked about the effectiveness of our design.🐐💦🚣🏼‍♀️

We have been innovating our new story Billy Goats Gruff. Look at our new characters and the horrible, angry troll. 📕🐲🐮

We have really enjoyed tasting the different tropical fruits that Handa mentions in her story. We have thought about which ones we like and why, which ones we don't like and how they taste. We created a class tally chart to collate our findings. 🍓🍍🥝🍋🥑🍑

We really enjoyed tasting and trying the different Chinese foods last week when we were learning about Chinese New Year 🍜🍱⛩

We are so excited to be learning all about Chinese New Year. We are learning about the different traditions and how and why people celebrate it. 💥🍱🍜🏔⛩🎆

‪We are thinking about which animals live in Antarctica, particularly penguins and how they are adapted to survive in the freezing cold conditions. We are going to be thinking a little bit more about melting and freezing. Can you see what is frozen in our ice? ❄️🌊‬

We are learning all about Barnsley this week. We are thinking about where we live, which landmarks we recognise and our journey from home to school. 🏠🏡🛤🚅🚗

Wow what a fabulous final performance! The children have worked so hard in our nativity and we are all so proud of them. 😊

‪We had some special visitors this week, some aliens brought us a story- Alien Tea on Planet Zum-Zee. Then they invited us to their pizza party and gave us design sheets and ingredients. We used these to design, make and cook our own pizzas for the party. 👽🍕🎉‬

We are learning all about space this week. We know that there are 8 planets in our solar system and we are starting to find out the names of some of them.⭐️💫🌍🌕🌑

We can't believe what Albie has sent Reception to look after. We wonder which dinosaur will be inside? Don't worry Albie we will take care of it and watch to see if anything happens!

In Reception this week we are learning all about seasons . We have shared some of the Autumn walk pictures you have sent in and talked about what we did and saw. We have been thinking about what things we might see in Autumn, what happens in Autumn and what different festivals/celebrations some people might celebrate. 🍀☘️🌿🌱🍁🍂

‪We are very excited in Class 2 this morning because we've found a footprint in our classroom and we think it might be from the Gruffalo. We are going to look for some clues this afternoon. He has terrible tusks and terrible claws and terrible teeth in his terrible jaws...‬

In Class 2 we have been making some repeating patterns with fruit, paint, beads and objects. Can you work out my pattern?🍓🍇🍌🍏🎨

We have started our Funny Bones story this week. We will be thinking about keeping our bodies healthy and our body parts and senses. Look at the super learning we have done already 💀 🍊🍎🍏🍌

We have started our new story this week- The Best Dress Ever. 📚We are thinking about trying our best and not giving up. We are also thinking about friendship and how we can be kind to our friends, share, make them laugh and listen to them 😊

We have loved sharing our favourite stories today and talking about why we like them 😊we have read one story so far and can’t wait to read the other two. I wonder who will get picked at the end of this week to bring in their favourite story?📚📕

We have begun our topic 'All About Me'. We have been talking all about our families and ourselves. We have learnt that...Families come in all shapes and sizes. We are all unique, but other people can have similarities to me. It is good to be different and we must always show kindness and respect towards everyone.
