World Book Day 2023 was like every other day in the 

Foundation Stage at Burton Road School

It was full of book sharing, talking about our favourite stories and learning new ones.

The description children used to describe their favourite characters was clear and accurate.

They enjoyed rhymes, poems and songs together.

There was one difference!

They had some special visitors to read to them.

The visitors came from Barnsley Football Club.

The children also enjoyed drawing some of their favourite characters, creating bookmarks and talking about their books from home.

Children were put to the test with a book treasure hunt.

How well do they know their authors?

Do they recognise plots and characters from their class recommended reads?

The children said, “We loved the morning, better than dressing up!”
